 Progress log and blog report

WHERE ARE WE - AND WHAT'S HAPPENED?

NEW! Also created new movies page last 2 movies added 17 Jan...

Buenos Aires

We will document our progress here. Internet connectivity and baud rates etc are not reliable and access locations are intermittent and widely dispersed. However, when we get the opportunity, we'll be blogging our reports here. Everytime there is a new report, you'll see a new link on the left dated according to the report.

You'll also find a link summary at the foot of this page.

If we can, we'll also plot our approximate position on the Google Earth map above. Although we probably won't know where we are most of the time anyway.

Rough Probable Route (probably)

Dec 4

Myself, Chris, Alan, Julian and Ivor - 26 hours after leaving Heathrow, stopping in the cold of Toronto...

Dec 5

8am breakfast. The hotel was average and pricy for Argentina...

Dec 6

And we were away, across the flat plains. An endless expanse of fields broken only by the odd town...

Dec 7

The morning was spent is some confusion at the hotel. Would Delmar be successful? Where was he?

Dec 8

Today we needed to cover some miles. All together we were doing a reasonable daily average...

Dec 9

The Valdez peninsular looks small on the map, just a little blob of land, but in reality a round trip to the west side and looping round and back from Puerto Madryn would be about 300km...

Dec 10

Today was to be a long drive through very little down Rn 3 to Punta Tombo, the city of the Penguins.

Dec 11

We could sleep in today! Breakfast at 10am...

Dec 12

...the end of the world drawing closer. Off from St Julian, by now I am craving a more normal breakfast...

Dec 13

It was with some excitement we left Rio Grande headed for Ushuaia...

Dec 14

Ivor, Alan and myself took the cars to the garage for 9am, greatly wanting to see the underside of the cars...a short flight into the Andes

Dec 15

Alan, Ivor and Julian took their cars for welding at 9am, as arranged, expecting to be away by mid day. Unfortunately no welder turned up

Dec 16

At 5.30 am it is absolutely freezing! For those encased in Austin Healey, with a working heater and protected from the elements it is not too bad, in the Vintage style Westland...

Dec 17

To one of the most stunning places on Earth

Dec 18

Starting the long road to San Carlos de Bariloche

Dec 19

Petrified forests and Estancias

Dec 20

The long road takes its toll

Dec 21

A day off…

Dec 22

An unexpected day off…

Dec 23

To Chile and the Pacific… we hope

Dec 24

A long Christmas Eve, a very long Christmas Eve

Dec 25

Christmas Day and Santiago

Dec 26

Boxing Day and the high Andes crossing

Dec 27

Down and on the flat again

Dec 28

Floods and marshes in the desert

Dec 29

To the border!

Dec 30

Into darkest Paraguay

Dec 31

Asuncion and the drive through Paraguay
